Quy Nhon is Binh Dinh province’s quietly excellent coastal city — long unspoiled beaches, medieval Cham towers in remarkable condition, superb seafood, and almost no mass tourism. It’s one of Vietnam’s genuinely underrated destinations, increasingly popular with Vietnamese domestic travellers but still largely undiscovered by international tourists.
1 Day in Quy Nhon
- Morning: Ky Co Beach (30 km north; dramatic rocky cove with turquoise water; hire a motorbike or join a boat tour)
- Midday: Return via Ghenh Rang and Thi Nai Lagoon (widest lagoon in Vietnam; bridge crossing with great views)
- Afternoon: Thap Doi Cham Towers in the city centre (12th-century towers; well-preserved; 30 min)
- Evening: Quy Nhon night market for grilled seafood — the best value seafood eating in central Vietnam
2 Days in Quy Nhon
- Day 1: Ky Co Beach + Eo Gio (“Wind Gap”) — coastal viewpoint with dramatic sea-stack rock formations and turquoise coves
- Day 2: Banh It Cham Towers (25 km north; hilltop towers with countryside views) + Vijaya Citadel ruins + afternoon Quy Nhon Beach walking the long promenade
3 Days in Quy Nhon
- Day 1: Ky Co + Eo Gio coastal circuit (full day; spectacular)
- Day 2: Cham tower route — Banh It, Thap Doi, and the more remote Twin Towers at Duong Long (50 km north; the tallest Cham towers in Vietnam)
- Day 3: Quy Nhon relaxation day — Ghenh Rang Beach, Thi Nai Lagoon, fresh seafood lunch, afternoon swim
Activities to Build Into Any Itinerary
- Sunrise at Quy Nhon Beach before the promenade fills with joggers and coffee vendors
- Afternoon seafood lunch at a local restaurant in the fishing harbour area — bánh xèo Bình Định (Quy Nhon style) is different to the Hoi An version
- Boat trip to Cù Lao Xanh island (Green Island; 20 km offshore; day-trip boats from the port)
- Motorbike the coastal road south toward Phu Cat for dramatic cliffside scenery
Practical Notes
- Getting there: Phu Cat Airport (35 km north; flights from Hanoi and HCMC); express train on the main line (Quy Nhon has its own branch station, or use Dieu Tri 10 km away for faster trains)
- Getting around: Hire a motorbike (100,000–150,000 VND/day) — Ky Co and most sights are 15–30 km out of town
- Best season: January–August (dry, clear water). Avoid September–December (typhoon-influenced; rough seas)
