Cau Dat Tea Farm

A historic 600-hectare tea plantation established in 1927 at 1,650 m altitude — rolling green terraces with century-old wild tea trees and mountain valley views.

Overview

Cau Dat was established by the French in 1927 at 1,650 m altitude — one of the highest tea plantations in Vietnam, which gives its oolong a distinctive floral, high-altitude character. The 600-hectare estate rolls across a valley south of Da Lat, and within it stand several hectares of century-old wild tea trees, their gnarled trunks a contrast to the manicured rows around them. A small museum explains the plantation's history supplying black tea to French markets; the tea shop lets you taste and buy directly.

About 24 km south of Da Lat centre (30–40 min by motorbike). Free to walk the plantation; tea room and museum on site. Best in early morning before tour buses arrive — the mist in the valley is spectacular.
