Thanh Ha Pottery Village

A 500-year-old pottery village on the Thu Bon River where artisans still use foot-powered wheels — visitors can throw their own pots and browse the riverside kilns.

Overview

Thanh Ha Pottery Village has been producing ceramics on the south bank of the Thu Bon River since the 15th century, when Cham potters settled here after the fall of their kingdom. Unlike most Vietnamese pottery villages, Thanh Ha artisans still use foot-powered kick wheels — one foot on the ground, one pushing the wooden wheel — a technique unchanged for five centuries. The village produces both functional ware (pots, water jars, roof tiles) and decorative pieces; a small museum traces the history of the craft and displays excavated Cham-era pieces. Visitors can try the wheel and take home what they make.

Entry to Thanh Ha Pottery Park: 35,000 VND. Hands-on pottery session extra (~50,000 VND). Located 3 km west of the ancient town on the south bank — reachable by bicycle in 15 minutes or by boat from the riverside. Open daily 07:00–17:30.
