Han River Swing Bridge
Vietnam's only rotating bridge — opens 90 degrees on weekend nights to let vessels pass, drawing crowds who gather on the riverside to watch the spectacle.
Overview
The Han River Swing Bridge (Cầu Quay Sông Hàn) was completed in 2000 and holds a unique distinction in Vietnam: it is the country's only rotating bridge, engineered to swing 90 degrees on its central pivot to allow large cargo vessels to pass through. The rotation takes about 45 minutes and happens on weekend nights between 23:00 and midnight — a minor spectacle that draws locals and tourists to the riverside to watch. The bridge is also beautifully lit at night and sits alongside the more famous Dragon Bridge, making the Da Nang riverfront particularly atmospheric after dark.
Free to cross on foot. Rotation: Saturday and Sunday nights, approximately 23:00–00:30 (confirm locally as times vary). The bridge connects Nguyen Van Linh Street on the west bank to Tran Hung Dao on the east bank. Best experienced as part of an evening riverside walk that takes in the Dragon Bridge fire show (21:00 Saturday–Sunday) and the illuminated waterfront.
