Hon Kho Island (Dry Island)

A small offshore island with shallow crystal-clear water, vibrant coral gardens, and wooden bridges over the sea — one of the most accessible snorkelling spots near Quy Nhon.

Overview

Hon Kho (Đảo Hòn Khô — "Dry Island") is a small rocky island a short boat ride from Quy Nhon's fishing harbour, known for its exceptionally clear water and accessible coral reefs. Wooden boardwalks built over the sea connect sections of the island, and the shallow bays on the sheltered side have enough coral and reef fish for rewarding snorkelling without scuba gear. A handful of seafood restaurants on the island serve the catch of the day — eating grilled fish on a floating platform over the water is a highlight of any visit.

Boat from Quy Nhon port: approximately 50,000–80,000 VND return (15–20 min). Snorkel gear hire on the island (~50,000 VND). Best visited March–August when visibility is highest. The island gets busy on Vietnamese public holidays; weekday visits are more peaceful. Combine with a stop at Hon Seo for more experienced snorkellers and divers.
