Museum of Cham Sculpture

The world's largest collection of Cham artefacts — over 300 sandstone sculptures spanning eight centuries of Champa civilisation, displayed in an elegant 1919 French colonial building.

Overview

The Museum of Cham Sculpture in Da Nang holds the world's most comprehensive collection of Cham art — over 300 original sandstone and terracotta sculptures recovered from sites across central Vietnam, spanning the 7th to 15th centuries. The collection is organised by site of origin (My Son, Dong Duong, Tra Kieu, Thap Mam) and traces the evolution of Cham artistic style from Indian-influenced early pieces to the more distinctly Vietnamese later works. Highlights include the Tra Kieu altar pedestal (considered the finest example of Cham sculpture), a collection of Shiva lingas, and dancing apsara figures with extraordinary fluid movement frozen in stone.

Entry approximately 60,000 VND. Open daily 07:00–17:00. Located at 2 Trung Nu Vuong Street in central Da Nang — 15 minutes walk from the Han River. Allow 1.5–2 hours. The museum building itself, built by the French in 1919 and expanded in 1936, is an elegant example of colonial architecture. Best visited before or after My Son Sanctuary for full context.
