Xuan Huong Lake

The heart of Da Lat — a crescent-shaped lake ringed by gardens, colonial villas, and pine hills, perfect for early-morning walks and cycle hire.

Overview

Xuan Huong Lake is the geographical and social heart of Da Lat. The 5 km crescent-shaped lake was formed in 1919 when the French dammed the Cam Ly River, and the boulevard that rings it quickly became the city's promenade. Early mornings are the best time to visit: local residents do tai chi on the lawns, swan-shaped paddleboats are just launching, and the mist still clings to the pine-covered hills beyond. The lake is flanked by Da Lat's famous flower gardens, the century-old golf course, and a row of French colonial villas.

Free to walk around the lake. Bicycle hire and paddleboat rental available at the western shore (approximately 50,000–100,000 VND/hour). The full circuit on foot takes about 1 hour at a leisurely pace.
