Queen’s Beach (Bai Hoang Hau)
A striking pebble beach near Ghenh Rang — millions of smooth oval stones instead of sand, named after Vietnam's last empress, with panoramic coastal views.
Overview
Queen's Beach (Bãi Hoàng Hậu) near Ghenh Rang is one of the most unusual beaches in Vietnam — instead of sand, the shore is carpeted in millions of smooth, oval grey and brown pebbles polished by centuries of wave action. The beach takes its name from Nam Phuong, the last empress of Vietnam, who reportedly favoured this stretch of coast. The stone shore makes for extraordinary photography, and the elevated paths above give panoramic views along the headland. Swimming is possible but the pebble entry is uncomfortable without water shoes.
Free entry. Located in the Ghenh Rang area, about 3 km south of Quy Nhon city centre. Best visited in the late afternoon when the low sun catches the wet stones. Easily combined with a walk through the nearby Ghenh Rang rock formations and a visit to Han Mac Tu's tomb.
