Overview

Ghenh Rang (also called Tien Sa — "Fairy Sand") is a dramatic headland of wave-sculpted granite boulders and hidden coves about 3 km south of Quy Nhon. Stone paths wind through the formations to a series of elevated viewpoints, small beaches accessible only on foot, and the tomb of Han Mac Tu — one of Vietnam's most celebrated early 20th-century poets, who spent his final years in the Quy Hoa leprosy colony nearby. The combination of wild coastal scenery and literary pilgrimage makes Ghenh Rang unlike anywhere else on the central coast.

Free entry. Open daily. The headland takes about 1.5 hours to explore properly on foot. Sunset from the high points is spectacular. Take care on the rocks after rain — the granite becomes extremely slippery. About 10 minutes by motorbike from the city centre.
