Kitesurfing & Water Sports
Mui Ne is Vietnam's kitesurfing capital — consistent thermal winds, flat lagoon water, and several established kite schools make it one of the top kite destinations in Asia.
Overview
Mui Ne is the kitesurfing capital of Vietnam and one of the top destinations in Southeast Asia for the sport. The thermal winds are generated by the contrast between the hot inland desert and the cooler South China Sea, producing reliable, consistent winds from roughly October to April — the best season for kitesurfing — and again from June to August. The flat, shallow lagoon behind the main beach provides ideal learning conditions for beginners; more experienced kiters head offshore for jumps and freestyle. Several established schools (Manta, Mykiteclub, and others) offer IKO-certified courses from beginner to advanced.
Beginner kite course (3 days, ~6 hours instruction): approximately 4,000,000–5,000,000 VND. Equipment rental for experienced kiters: ~500,000–800,000 VND per session. Best wind months: November–March (strongest and most consistent). Surfing is also possible at Rang Beach during the transitional months; paddleboarding and kayaking are available year-round from most beach operators.
