Ham Ninh Fishing Village

One of Phu Quoc's oldest communities on the northeast coast — wooden stilthouse piers, pearl farms, fresh crabs straight off the boats, and an unhurried way of life.

Overview

Ham Ninh is one of the oldest fishing settlements on Phu Quoc, established on the northeast coast long before the island became a tourist destination. The village is built on stilts over the water, with wooden piers stretching into the bay where boats unload sea cucumber, crab, squid, and the small anchovies used in Phu Quoc's famous fish sauce. Pearl farming is a major local industry — several farms in the bay offer tours where you can see the cultivation process and buy directly. The village seafood restaurants, perched over the water on the pier, are some of the most atmospheric places to eat on the island.

About 20 km from Duong Dong on the northeast coast — 25–30 minutes by motorbike. No entry fee. The pier restaurants serve fresh crab, grilled squid, and seafood hotpot at reasonable prices. Best visited for a late lunch or early dinner, arriving in time to watch the afternoon fishing boats return.
