Nhon Hai Fishing Village
A traditional fishing community north of Quy Nhon known for its colourful coracle boats, early-morning fish markets, and homestay experiences with local fishing families.
Overview
Nhon Hai and the adjacent Nhon Ly are traditional fishing villages on a peninsula north of Quy Nhon, still largely untouched by tourism. The harbours fill each morning with colourful wooden boats and the distinctive round thung chai coracle boats used for checking crab and lobster traps in shallow water. The fish market at the pier operates from around 04:00–07:00 — arrive early to see the full catch being sorted, weighed, and sold to wholesalers. Several families in both villages offer simple homestays, providing an authentic counterpoint to Quy Nhon's resort beaches nearby.
About 15–20 km north of Quy Nhon city centre — 20–25 minutes by motorbike along the coastal road that also passes Eo Gio. No entry fee. Morning fish market 04:00–07:00. Homestay bookings through local guesthouses in Quy Nhon or via word of mouth in the village.
