Sao Beach
Consistently ranked among Vietnam's most beautiful beaches — powdery white sand, turquoise water, and a relaxed atmosphere on Phu Quoc's southeast coast.
Overview
Sao Beach (Bãi Sao) on Phu Quoc's southeast coast is consistently ranked among the finest beaches in Vietnam — and for good reason. The sand is exceptionally fine and white, the water a translucent turquoise, and the beach backed by casuarina trees that provide natural shade. Unlike Long Beach to the west, Sao Beach has largely been spared over-development; a handful of seafood shacks and lounger operators line the shore without overwhelming it. The water is calm and shallow, ideal for swimming, and the snorkelling over the offshore reef is accessible without a boat.
About 25 km from Duong Dong town — a 30-minute drive by motorbike or taxi. Sunlounger hire approximately 50,000–100,000 VND. Best visited on weekday mornings before tour buses from the resorts arrive. The beach road passes through pepper plantations and fish sauce factories worth a brief stop.
